Our final entry for Scream Kings is the 1986 film Maximum Overdrive, which was written AND directed by Stephen King. It’s also the last film he ever directed. The plot is about the Earth passing through the tail of a comet, which has an evil effect on machines, gas pumps, and electronic devices. They in some way revolt leading to widespread chaos and destruction. A group of people finds themselves trapped at a truck stop in North Carolina, including Bill Robinson (Emilio Estevez). The machines outside the truck stop start coming to life and turning against the humans. The group realizes they gotta do something to survive. Who will be the hero of this rag-tag group of folks??

This film is absolutely unhinged in a way that doesn’t even make sense.
